When the sun comes out in Cleveland
The day started off gray and gross. Exhibit A:
By 5 p.m., the weather did a complete turnaround, and I’m glad about it.
I started off the day at a nearby park, but I didn’t stay long because it was cold and gray outside. After I did groceries, I ventured downtown to return a book, and then went over to the Rocky River Park to take some photos. The sun had come out by then, so the lake was very beautiful. Extremely blue, and for the first time in a while, relatively calm. It feels like the winds have been so strong lately that the lake is nothing but angry waves.
I wish Rocky River Park was a little bit bigger, closer to the size of Edgewater.
Speaking of Edgewater, it was extremely busy. The moment the weather cracks 60 degrees in Ohio, Clevelanders will be outside, and they will be wearing shorts. It was hard to find any good opportunities to take some photos due to the foot traffic. But I did my best.
There were lots of folks on the pier and folks walking along the rocks (I could never, weak ankles).
Out in the fields was a group of dancers filming a video. By the time I left, there was a small crowd cheering them on.
I shot in aperture priority for most of the day and took advantage of my new knowledge of Auto ISO. I created an ISO setting specifically for daytime, with a base ISO of 160 and a max ISO of 3200. One less thing to worry about.
Overall, it was a good day. I’m glad the sun eventually came out. It’s going to be even warmer tomorrow (70 degrees!), so I’m betting the entire city will be out in full force again. If I can find some time after work, I might try to go on another downtown photowalk since the sun sets at 6 p.m. now (whoo!).
