WinterLand CLE

I braved another day of cold weather to go downtown today for WinterLand CLE. It’s Cleveland’s annual kickoff event for the winter season. It was fun: they set up an ice rink in Public Square, they had various cartoon characters available for photos, and lots of events for the kids. I went to the Solders’ and Sailors’ monument in Public Square for the first time and learned why regiments are numbered.

I visited some small businesses for small business Saturday, got some hot miso ramen at Otani Noodle, had amazing churros at the Fahrenheit food truck, and also visited Tower City for the first time in several years. Overall, it was a fun day out. I ultimately didn’t stick around for the tree lighting in the evening because I am 31 and my feet hurt.

I’d been out all day, anyway. I had to stop by my local camera store for my first ever sensor cleaning. The good folks at Dodd Camera took care of it in about 15 minutes.

When out and about today, I used my 35mm f/2 lens. I was inspired to ditch the 27mm and try to actually think about my shots. I wish the reindeer photos came out better. I thought to try sticking my lens through the fence to get closer pictures, but one of them was a little fidgety and nearly hit someone with his antlers.

I also used some of Forrest Mankin’s FM film presets to edit these. I want to learn how to edit my own photos, so I thought using someone else’s to learn from would be a good idea.

Lens: 35mm f2
