An afternoon at University Circle

For a while now, I’ve been contemplating about upgrading my XT-30 II to the XT-5. The idea first came into my head towards the end of last year. I’d seen several videos of other photographers on YouTube who used the XT-5, particularly for street photography. I heard nothing but how great the AF is, how great the colors look, and how great the photos look due to the 40mp sensor. I eventually decided to trade in the XT-30 and upgrade for:

  1. The dedicated ISO dial

  2. The weather sealing

  3. Photo quality

  4. IBIS

I’m thinking I’ll stick with this body until it gives out on me.

Hopefully, the XT-5 will help me to achieve my photography goals (side business someday maybe?). And also continue to make photography fun! I’ve been keeping up with this for almost a year now, which is great.

I’ve only had it for a day, but I’m really enjoying it. It’s not too big, I really like the ISO dial, and the photo quality is amazing.

About the photos

I popped down to UC late in the afternoon, right around sunset. I focused on trying out aperture priority (AP) mode for my shots. I typically shoot in manual mode, but I did some reading about the best modes to use for street photography, and AP came up a lot. It took a while to understand it, but once I got everything set right, it was a breeze. I like that I get to think a little bit less when using AP. All I have to do is set the aperture and the camera does the rest.
