The Black Arts Showcase

Yesterday, I went to the Black Arts Showcase at the Pivot Center near West 25th. I’d been looking forward to the event all week because I knew there were going to be several vendors at the event. The Sparrows Fortune, a spoken word collective, was also hosting a creative writing workshop, and I missed one earlier this month because I had COVID.

The Pivot Center is a really cool space with an art gallery, a workshop space, and a community arts center. It’s also home to Dahlia, which had the best mocha I’ve ever had. They call it a Mexican mocha. It’s more chocolatey than it is coffee.

The creative writing workshop was great and helped to get my creative juices flowing. I came away with a draft of something I might read at a future open mic night.

Overall, I had a good time, and I’ll definitely be back next year!
