An October Deanna Day Out

DDO, or “Deanna Day Out” is a day where I, Deanna, do whatever I want, usually on Saturdays. I grab my laptop, my camera, and my wallet, and just give myself free reign to go…wherever. You want to go out for breakfast? Head over to the Cleveland Bagel Company. Want to go on a photowalk downtown? Do that. Tired of walking and want to go to a coffee shop? Why not! It’s a day for me to be outside with myself, treating myself, being with myself. I find DDOs refreshing.

Today was a DDO. We’re having a nice stretch of weather right now. It’s proper fall outside–the weather is hovering around 60-65 degrees, the sun is out, and there’s not a cloud in the sky.

I was going to stay down at University Circle for an event after my guitar lesson, but I didn’t feel like going because the event was primarily for kids and families. Instead, I drove over to West 114th street for the grand opening of Dahlia Coffee’s new location. They used to be located at the Pivot Center on West 25th street. To be honest, I wish they’d stayed because the parking situation was a little bit better there than on W.114th. However, today was their grand opening, so there were lots of folks there. Perhaps on a normal day the parking situation will be a bit easier.

Like…look at this ceiling!

Their new spot is definitely a lot larger, and I could see that care went into creating the space. The ceiling had this very beautiful, intricate design. Lots of pictures from the old spot, too, so it almost felt like I was still at the Pivot Center.

Unfortunately, they were out of beef empanadas. I hope I’ll be able to make it out there for one, though. Now that I’m back to working full time (yay!), the days of me zipping all over the city during the day are behind me.
