words in focus is a collection of portraits that capture the performances of spoken word artists in cleveland. each photo captures the moment when the poet’s performance transcends from simply reading words to something deeply personal. in that moment, there is no separation between the words and the artist; for a brief moment, they become one.

ultimately, my work invites viewers to consider that poetry is more than language–it is a living, visual experience shaped by the power and presence of the poet.
