Parade the Circle
I’ve been looking forward to Parade the Circle ever since the date was announced. Mostly, I was looking forward to photographing the event. But Parade the Circle is the official start of summer in Cleveland.
I got down to University Circle at 8 a.m. because I wanted the best parking available. The weather was perfect for a quick walk around the area with my 18mm lens. Around 10 a.m. is when folks starting showing up.
The festivities started with a great performance from the Latin Soul Band, which is based in Cleveland, OH. Everyone was dancing to their music in no time. There were two older women and a young girl dancing near the stage. It was so cute! And it made me think of my own grandmother who loved dancing to reggae music.
I was really glad that I had the Viltrox 75mm on me for the event. I’ve had it for a week or so to test, and so far it’s going great. I actually think I might buy it at some point. The autofocus was reasonably reliable, and I love the swirly bokeh that I get when using the lens wide open.
The parade was great, too. The theme this year was “visions of harmony.” We had some musical performers in the parade playing drums and jazz, too.
When I went to the parade last year, I took some photos for fun. I think I had just purchased the Lumix G7 but didn’t really know how to use it yet. I was thinking about how this year, I actually know what I’m doing. Someone actually asked if I was shooting photos for the newspaper!
Below are some of my favorite shots from the parade.
